"Seeing Stars"... Knockout Emmy Night Fashions - Announced by Top Stylists

It was standing room only at The 62nd Annual Emmy Awards, where international stylists and identical twin sisters Sara and Ruth Levy weighed in on the top 10 Emmy fashion contenders. "The Hollywood starlets separated themselves into two fashion corners. In one corner, chic and elegant, and in the other - those who needed more training before getting into the ring with Hollywood's fashion heavyweights," reported the Levy sisters.

"There were several impressive knockouts on the red carpet tonight. Of course, it wouldn't be television if they didn't show a few below-the-belt style hits as well," said the twins, who have appeared on TV's "Rachael Ray" Show as well as NBC's Cracking The Fashion Code and provide fashion styling and consulting for a variety of clients in the U.S. and Europe.

"With the teams of fashion stylists and designers (not to mention the avalanche of gorgeous clothes and jewelry) literally thrown at these stars, everyone should be in top fashion form on the red carpet," says Ruth. "However, how many times do we all ask ourselves during award ceremonies - WHAT was she thinking?!"

"But tonight it wasn't all left hooks. Although some outfits, like Heidi Klum's uber-mini dress would have made Rocky blush, others were definitely destined for The Emmy's Fashion Hall of Fame."

According to the Twins, the top five "Fashion Knockouts" of the night were:

1. "Maria Menounos, who reigned champion in her $35,000 beaded Ralph and Russo gown. Her dress's secret weapon? 15,000 hand-sewn crystals. She brought old Hollywood glamour back with a vengeance thereby earning her the heavyweight fashion crown of the evening (Swarovski-studded, of course)."

2. "Julie Benz clinched the win, looking long and lean in Pamella Roland. She obviously worked on her cardio to sizzle in this form-fitting, elegant white number. Kudos to Julie for just saying no to this year's obsession with extra feathers, fluff and lace. Keeping it simple was her best game plan."

3. "Jane Lynch shed her beloved Adidas track suit and was in plum form in a gorgeous off the shoulder purple silk gown."

4. "Claire Danes came out on top in Armani Prive. She was in her best form yet and the gold beading seduced us - Tinseltown style. Her 2 million dollar ring had us see women's jackets ing stars -and security working overtime."

5. "Rose Byrne gave a polished delivery in her Greek-Goddess Gucci gown. Although a little un-orthodox, we applaud her for stepping away from the basic prom-dress theme of the evening and daring to go for the gold - literally."

Sara and Ruth's picks for the five worst "Knock-downs" were:

1. "Christina Hendricks came up throwing wild purple punches in this feathery ensemble. With her plunging neckline she was just one deep breath away from a wardrobe malfunction - and a bonding moment with Janet Jackson. Who knew double-faced tape came in industrial strength?"

2. "January Jones. Looks like she sparred with a Smurf and a mermaid... and lost. A fashion intervention was then called by the referee. The towel was thrown in - which unfortunately landed on the next contender..."

3." ...Lauren Graham, who had to then pull out with a dress injury. Not sure if she felt the pain, but we sure did."

4. "Mindy Kaling looked like she was about to float away in this goth, Adam's Family-inspired prom dress. Made us want to call for a commercial break."

5. "Anna Paquin looked more like a bullfighter than a style prizefighter with her golden epaulette adorned shoulders. The only thing that was missing was the bull. Too bad, with her looks she could have been a contender..."

"Another year of Emmys. You win some. You lose some... and we all have a great time seeing, once again, which styles and stars made the cut. To the good the bad and the (dare we say) ugly - we applaud your courage, your sense of style, and your ability, as always, to knock us out."

(For Emmy photos of the above outfits see the popular Fashion Code blog).

The Fashion Code has been applauded for it's dedication to eradicating fashion's myths and helping women dress for their unique bodies - rather than being a slave to unrealistic fashion trends. They are known for their eye opening use of before and after fashion photos which expose how women are misled by the fashion industry on how to dress for their bodies, rather than a model's in a magazine. They can be contacted through their site at TheFashionCode.com.

Global Market for Baby Disposable Diapers to Reach US$29.0 Billion by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

A highly commoditized market, baby diapers is intrinsically a tough category for manufacturers to operate in. But the market confronted its toughest challenge ever, manifested in the form of the recent world economic slowdown. Although baby diapers are necessities and represent baby care products that are not readily compromised by doting parents, the market nevertheless is not recession proof as widely opined. The prolonged world economic recession has taken its toll on the baby disposable diapers market with demand growth decelerating in developing markets and sales eroding in developed markets such as the United States.

Decreases in purchase frequencies, coupled with consumers trading down to branded goods sold at popular-to-moderate price points, has exerted pressure on the market's revenue earning capability. Shrewder use of the product and innovation in absorptive capacity has extended the period between diaper changes, thus leading to a decline in purchase frequencies. Fall in purchase frequencies is also the result of frugal consumer spending triggered by falling disposable spends, reduction in household wealth and rise in unemployment. Additionally, the recession has induced shifts in consumer preferences towards lesser expensive cloth diapers, which further squeezed revenue opportunities in the market.

Growth in baby disposable diapers market post recession primarily hinges onto resurgence in consumer spending habits, and gradual trading up to premium diapers, which can generate higher revenue for market participants. With the recession triggering changes in baby diapering systems, manufacturers across the globe are seeking new ways to stay afloat. Interestingly, manufacturers in developed, mature markets such as the US and Europe are focusing on the premium segment to expand value sales. This is primarily because falling birth rates in these countries leave very little scope for volume sales gains. Innovation ranks high on the charts with leading players like P&G and Kimberly Clark focusing on roping in top-notch designers to develop designer baby diapers. The designer diaper market is thus forecast to emerge as the next battleground in these markets, with diaper R&D shifting from developing super absorbent and safe materials towards aesthetics, and thus developing product concepts for designer diapers.

Key marketing strategies adopted by manufacturers to revitalize the market include adoption of adroit marketing strategies, such as, offering price-to-value benefits, innovating product features and harnessing the power of social media to target modern socially networked parents. Russia, China, Brazil, India, and other developing countries pan out attractive future growth opportunities for manufacturers, and product variables poised to score the highest gains will be convenience and ease of use and disposal.

As stated by the new market research report on baby disposable diapers, Europe continues to remain the largest regional market. Asia-Pacific on the other hand, is the fastest growing regional market. The sheer number of annual births, increase in the number of working women, fast-paced consumer lifestyles, improving economic affluence, rising spends per child, and growing awareness over the importance of hygiene are the primary factors driving robust growth in Asia-Pacific.

Major players in the marketplace include Associated Hygienic Products LLC, First Quality Enterprises, Godrej Consumer Products, Kao Corporation, Kimberly-Clark Corp., Ontex, Procter & Gamble, SCA Hygiene Products, Uni-Charm Corp, among others.

The research report titled "Baby Disposable Diapers: A Global Strategic Business Report", announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a comprehensive review of market trends, drivers, issues, profiles of major players, product developments and other strategic industry activities. The report provides market estimates and projections for major geographic markets such as United States, Canada, Japan, Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, and Rest of Europe) Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Rest of World.

PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser: Skincare-News.com Reveals 10 Anti-Aging Benefits of this Device

With age, and as more wrinkles begin appearing on the face, the eye area often reveals frustrating signs of premature aging – such as crow's feet, expression lines, dark circles and sagging skin. Professional, in-office treatments can help, but not everybody can afford the time or money for these pricey and time-consuming treatments. The PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser was designed to provide an effective at-home option. How does this hand-held device offer results that are professional quality? To find out more, visit Skincare-News.com or click skincare-news.com/a-9596-PaloVia_Skin_Renewing_Laser_Top_10_Reasons_to_Try_this_AntiAging_Device.aspx

With the many topical treatments on the market today that are specially designed to treat aging skin around the eye area, it can be difficult to find one that yields real results. Few topical eye creams and serums live up to their big claims, offering only surface-level repair. Laser technology, on the other hand, can enact change deep below the superficial layer of skin to bring back health and radiance. How do these gentle laser pulses help to improve collagen and elastin production and improve how the skin functions? To find out more, visit Skincare-News.com or click skincare-news.com/a-9596-PaloVia_Skin_Renewing_Laser_Top_10_Reasons_to_Try_this_AntiAging_Device.aspx

Effective skincare can come with a high price tag, and much of the time, results are not immediate – which means waiting weeks or even months to find out whether a product is worth the cost. However, in just one month, customers notice true anti-aging results from the PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser – such as a reduction in surface lines and wrinkles and improved complexion overall. How does this device bring results in such a short amount of time? Sunday's Best® 2011 Colors Make Debut at Kraft Nabisco Championship

In response to record temperatures in the early rounds of the 40th Annual Kraft Nabisco Championship, players gave us all a preview of the colors and items in women's golf apparel we'll be seeing this spring and summer in shops and boutiques nationwide.

Bright colors, knee-length shorts, skorts and skirts, some with loops for wide belts, were seen on the tournament leaders.

"Solid coral, fuchsia, yellow, aqua, hot pink and strong reds were everywhere," said women's golf clothing designer Tracey Lynn Blake. "The colors on those items are what retailers have been ordering for spring and summer."

The temperature hit a record 103 degrees in Round Two on Friday.

That's when Morgan Pressel put on a functional and perfect-fitting white shirt and yellow skort to deal with the heat. With the temperature down 20 degrees to normal in the final round on Sunday, Pressel earned Blake's pick as wearing Sunday's Best? for selecting yet another practical, distinctive outfit. Pressel wore a red skort and black belt with a black cap-sleeve shirt accentuated with angular red and white stripes across the front.

"Strong colors appropriate to the condi women's jackets tions and clothes that fit perfectly allowed her to make a classy impression both days," said Blake, founder of the fashion-forward tracey lynn women's golf clothing line. "That's what women tell us they want, golf clothing that's fashionable, fits and flatters."

Getting a fashion pan from Blake was the world's leading women's player, Yani Tseng. "The women in our focus groups all agree and say women's golf apparel should enhance the player's appearance and be functional," Blake said. "Yani is a great player, and I am always reluctant to be critical, but Yani's low-rider shorts just don't reflect her standing in the game or contribute to her appearance. The label on her left shirt sleeve was peeling off, as well."

Medals of America Releases PTSD Items in Support of Our Veterans Suffering from this Serious Disorder

Medals of America, the premier source for military medals, military ribbons and more, understands the seriousness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, and is doing its part to raise awareness and support this disorder through the release of new PTSD merchandise, including PTSD shirts, challenge coins and military hats. All PTSD items are great for both active and retired military members helping let all of our soldiers know that they are supported.

Close to one-third of all soldiers returning home after war suffer from this disorder. Despite being angry, confused and even suicidal, many of these men and women refuse to seek help—afraid it will be seen as a weakness or stigma. Sometimes, it is only through the aid of friends, family, and military leaders that these individuals pull through and can begin the healing process.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that often affects people after they have witnessed or experienced a traumatic event that threatened them with injury or death. Victims of this disorder may suffer from flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, confusion, guilt and anger—all of which may result in thoughts of suicide. Many cannot stop thinking about the traumatic event, or events, that caused the PTSD. The sooner PTSD is diagnosed and treated, the better.

"Medals of America is owned and run by veterans who understand the realities of war and the lasting impact on soldiers' lives," said Lee Foster, COO, Medals of America. "We understand PTSD is a very serious issue concerning our soldiers returning from war. So, to help increase awareness, we are offering a new selection of products focused around PTSD. This disorder has been affecting our nation's military since the Civil War and we want to help give it the attention it deserves."

To help spread awareness about this disorder and how it affects our country's military, Medals of America is trying to do its part through the distribution of PTSD merchandise. It is important for those suffering from PTSD to know that they are not alone. Additionally, to support Vietnam Veterans with PTSD, Medals of America donates a portion of every purchase made through their VVA Store to the Vietnam Veterans of America Headquarters in Maryland.

Spring Fashion 2012 Soiree at Skunkfunk San Francisco March 17

Skunkfunk fashion has always been what people call "fashion forward," leading the way with perennial innovations in design, materials and fits. To celebrate the transition into spring this year, the eco-conscious clothier is hosting a party at the Mission District location of the San Francisco clothing store to unveil the Spring - Summer 2012 line on Saturday, March 17 from 5 to 9 pm.

The 302 Valencia Street boutique will host the main event, where models will show off some of the more glamorous pieces from the collection while mingling with guests. Skunkfunk invites everyone to come in and enjoy DJed music, adult beverages and a new art exhibit. Concurrently, the 1475 Haight Street store will host a smaller event.

Along with hot new additions to its men's clothing line, this season's women's fashions by Skunkfunk include refreshed Skunkfunk classic designs, contemporary spins on '60s-style silhouettes, skirts with playful variations on hemlines, and convertible dresses and skirts that are appropriate for work, then quickly convert to eye-catching cocktail attire.

"Urban fashion has evolved, and as the sophistication level of urban fashion rises, Skunkfunk is not just keeping up—we're leading the way," said Kyle Retzik, owner of Skunkfunk North America. "While our brand has always exemplified high-quality upscale urban fashion, the new Spring - Summer 2012 line clearly shows everything from material choices to design to craftsmanship has been elevated to a whole new level."

Sean Santos, Skunkfunk's Valencia Street Store Manager, says he is seeing that women are looking for a good investment in their wardrobes, including traditionally spring clothing that can be worn throughout the year. He also feels this year's spring - summer line will appeal to a broader spectrum of women, as it includes choices ranging from edgy designs that make bold statements to more demure and sophisticated attire.

"There are options for both the fashion rebel, who wants to disassociate herself from mainstream fashion, and the woman who just wants to look beautiful in this collection," said Santos. "I am really excited about a number of pieces, including our spring version of the 'little black dress,' which I simply call the 'little white dress'; stylish faux leather jackets; and lightweight printed cardigans that are on the luxurious side of casual."

Santos says that when women put on a dress, the women's jackets y feel dressed up—but most dresses can be fussy to put on and uncomfortable, which makes it nearly impossible for the woman to look her best.

"Women want to dress up, but they also want simplicity and comfort," said Santos. "Skunkfunk is all of the above. Our dresses look great, feel great and go on easy like a pair of jeans."

Skunkfunk offers urbanites eco-friendly fashion, including convertible clothing that can be instantly redesigned for different looks and occasions. The Spanish-born purveyor of fine clothing is applauded for its eco-friendly fabrics and ethical distribution practices that harmonize with the environment.

Skunkfunk works hard to bring positive change to three areas of the fashion industry: people, planet and prosperity. Textiles are carefully chosen based upon their impact to the environment, and include recycled polyester, organic cotton and Lyocell.

RECYCLED POLYESTER
Polyester comes from crude oil, a natural scarce resource with a low renewability ratio. Recycled polyester is processed in a less energy intensive way than creating virgin fibers, and it's a perfect option to give a second life to post-industrial remains or post-consumer plastic waste.

ORGANIC COTTON
Organic Cotton is a natural fiber cultivated without the use of synthetic chemicals, such as pesticides or fertilizers, and is not genetically modified.

LYOCELL
Lyocell is a light and silky textile made from regenerated cellulosic fiber that comes from eucalyptus wood pulp. The biodegradable fiber is extracted under a sustainable closed-loop process that saves energy.

For more information about the debut of Skunkfunk's spring - summer line, or for information about any of Skunkfunk's products, call (415) 692-7678, go to http://www.shopskunkfunk.com, or visit one of the fashion leader's three stores, located at 1475 Haight Street (Haight-Ashbury) and 302 Valencia Street (The Mission) in San Francisco or 181 Orchard Street (SoHo) in New York City.

About Skunkfunk

“Thread: Stories of Fashion at Strawbery Banke, 1740-2012” Opens in Portsmouth NH May 1, 2012

Strawbery Banke Museum preserves and animates 400 years of history on the seacoast of New Hampshire by providing public access to the homes, shops and gardens of the people who lived in this Puddle Dock, Portsmouth neighborhood.

The showcase exhibit for 2012 -- Thread: Stories of Fashion at Strawbery Banke, 1740-2012 -- presents the clothes they wore and the fashion sense of Portsmouth, from the 1740 embroidered London Lady's Shoe to the fanciful 2012 Emma Hope shoe it inspired. Rarely seen items from the museum's costume collection are displayed alongside the creations of 15 contemporary designers in six of the museum's historic houses, including the Goodwin Mansion, Chase House, the Thomas Bailey Aldrich House, Shapley-Drisco, Rider-Wood and the Abbott Store. Visitors are introduced to the collection and to some of the contemporary designers via video, in the Rowland Gallery. The exhibit is included in the price of regular admission ($15 adults, $10 children 5-17, free to members and children under 5), seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm, May 1 through October 31, 2012.

"Portsmouth is no stranger to fashion, which is why the architecture, artifacts and stories preserved by Strawbery Banke Museum make a compelling visitors' experience and have drawn passionate advocates for more than fifty years," said Lawrence J. Yerdon, president and CEO. "Our mission, after all, is to inform a contemporary dialogue with ideas and objects from our own past."

Portsmouth's seaport has attracted goods from the ordinary to the luxurious, and kept up with trends imp women's coats orted from Paris and London, from the time Strawberry Bank was settled in 1630. The rich decorative arts expressed from the drawing rooms to the workingman's shops make a perfect backdrop to the clothes that made the men and women who made history here.

This exhibition portrays the people of Portsmouth, the way they lived and worked and the way they presented themselves to the world. From the heavy silk and brass buttons of Samuel Cutts' suit that speak to his colonial prominence and explain why he was the man who greeted Paul Revere in Stoodley's Tavern, to the tiny buttons of Sarah Goodwin's gown made of the printed cotton woven at her husband (NH Governor) Ichabod Goodwin's Portsmouth Steam Factory, to the satin bowling jacket from the 1950s Shapley-Drisco House – these are the clothes of the people who led real lives here. The Strawbery Banke Museum collection at the heart of this exhibition – with many items displayed for the first time – shows just how conscious of fashion the Seacoast's residents were. The modern creations crafted by contemporary designers in the spirit of that collection show just how strong a fashion sensibility remains in the Seacoast.

The new fashion designs inspired by the Collection, will be presented at the Passion For Fashion Gala on June 30. The Gala celebrity designers' runway show, hosted by Project Runway and Lifetime TV's Austin Scarlett and produced by Amy McLaughlin Lifestyles of Newburyport will feature the creations of established names and up-and-coming ingénues from the Thread exhibit, including: Emma Hope of London, Philip Treacy, also of London, Katerina Lankova (New York and Aspen), Chesley McLaren, Lily Zane and members of The Milliners Guild of New York (Sally Caswell, Christine Roemer, Cigmond, Barbara Volker, Ellen Christine Colon-Lugo) and Elizabeth Ronzio of St. Louis. Project Runway's Scarlett, Epperson and Project Runway Canada's Genevieve Marie Cyr are participating as are Boston Fashion Week's Carter Smith and Emily Muller. New Hampshire designers include Penumbra Textiles by Bridget Bleckmann, Robin Bettencourt, Erana, Alexa Price, Sarah Koski and Sarah Beth Johnson

It's not by chance that Portsmouth is an officially licensed Fashion's Night Out (Sep 6th) city. More fashion is found in the independent boutiques of Portsmouth, just a few blocks away. The Portsmouth Athenaeum, debuts its own fashion exhibit Height of Propriety: Fashions through time of the Proprietors of the Portsmouth Athenaeum on June 15.

Many of the items from the Museum's Collection are displayed for the first time and all of the contemporary designs are custom creations for Strawbery Banke. As the pieces from the Museum collection are too fragile for permanent display and as the contemporary design will return to their creators, Thread is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Strawbery Banke Museum is located at 14 Hancock Street in downtown Portsmouth, NH. The museum is open 7 days a week, May 1 through October 31. Admission: $15 adults, $10 children 5-17, free to children under 5. Family admission $40 (2 adults and all accompanying children). For more information about Thread and about the Museum as a place to gather and to learn about how ordinary people lives over three centuries of New England history, visit http://www.strawberybanke.org

Latest Post from Fitness Tips for Women Blog, GetFitDaily.com, Announces the Reality of Zumba

GetFitDaily.com is one of the world's most visited Fitness Tips blogs. Offering daily tips and advice to women, information can be read directly from their blog, or via a daily digest email.

Today, Stacy Carlo at GetFitDaily published her latest post, titled "Zumba – It's Fun and Motivating But Can It Reshape Your Body?"

Fitness fans can access the new blog post here:

http://getfitdaily.com/zumba-its-fun-and-motivating-but-can-it-reshape-your-body/

In her latest blog post, Stacy introduces her readers to Zumba – a new dance craze which allows women to exercise and get inspiration in a group setting.

While it's fun, active and motivational, Stacy debates if Zumba is really as good as the gurus make out.

"The first and most obvious shortcoming is that it requires a certain amount of grace, confidence and rhythm in order to get the most out of the workout," Stacy says.

She admits that, lacking in dance talent herself, she would not be the first person to jump at the opportunity of partaking in Zumba.

The second shortcoming Stacy is exposes is the need for an instructor to be present in order for the workout to take place.

"You have to watch somebody else do it, then learn the steps and follow the instructor's lead. What if she's sick one day and cancels? Does that mean that you just missed your w fashion coats online ork out? It sure does," Stacy adds.

The final shortcoming Stacy discusses could be the most powerful. She discusses the need to devote lots of time (45-60 minutes) to each Zumba class, as well as pay for special clothes, class fees and gym memberships.

Concluding her thoughts on Zumba, Stacy believes that while it is not for everyone, Zumba is a great activity for those who enjoy dance and like to socialize.

"Since doing any kind of exercise is better than sitting on your duff doing nothing, it won't be a waste of time. However, if what you're really looking for is a serious routine that saves you time, maximizes your work out, and helps you burn calories for up to two days after you exercise, then H.I.I.T. may be just your cup of tea," she says.

Disabled Veterans National Receives Big Thanks from Homeless Veterans Ministry for Veteran Care Packages

The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (http://www.dvnf.org), a non-profit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending our safety and our freedom, receives heartfelt praise and thanks from Topeka, Kansas homeless ministry for shipping veterans care packages. Timothy Sanders, Executive Director of Faith and Truth Ministries, Inc./Director of the Quincy House Veterans Homeless Ministry, has thanked DVNF for answering their call for help and shipping 50 veterans care packages ([http://www.faithandtruthministries.org). DVNF has provided more than $16 million in cash and supplies to veterans in need. DVNF is now asking veterans who have been helped by these programs to give feedback to DVNF Tell us your story.

Sanders calls Disabled Veterans National Foundation a "blessing" and says the donated 50 care packages for the ministry and city of Topeka will be passed out to those veterans in need. "I just got the email stating the care packages have been shipped, and I know it is not an accident that this has transpired...because God is a God that backs up his blessing with words and actions just as DVNF has done," said Sanders.

Direct veterans feedback and veterans' stories about how the DVNF assistance has helped them in their daily lives will go to further designing the existing DVNF programs to better suit veterans in need. The testimonials are an important tool to hear directly from the men and women who have served the country but now are not finding the help they require to move on with their personal and professional lives.

"It is very humbling and gratifying to hear such a genuine and heartfelt thank you from groups like the one Timothy Sanders runs in Topeka," said Raegan Rivers, Chief Administrative Officer of DVNF. "It gives us the emotional fuel we all need to push on and achieve the mission our founders had in mind to help all veterans who are not getting the assistance they need."

The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) has provided $16.1 mill women's jackets ion in cash and requested items such as clothing, food, health & hygiene products to tens of thousands of underserved and disabled veterans nationwide.
