Icebreaker to Open First Seattle Retail Store

Icebreaker, the New Zealand company that pioneered the merino wool adventure apparel category, today announced it would make its retail store debut in Seattle, Washington on November 15, 2012, just in time for the holidays. The new 1,500-square-foot "TouchLab" will be located in downtown Seattle at 5th Avenue and Pike Street, blocks from the iconic Pike Place Market.

"Seattleites love the outdoors and have a great appreciation for nature and natural products, so this area is the perfect location for our newest TouchLab," said Jeremy Moon, Icebreaker's founder and CEO. "Their active lifestyle and early adopter culture makes them our ideal customer, and they will especially appreciate merino wool's "warm when wet" properties."

Natural, sustainably produced Icebreaker merino regulates body temperature in all climates, is highly breathable to prevent the clamminess associated with synthetics, and protects wearers from the sun's harmful rays. It's also no stink, resisting odour and wearable for days – sometimes weeks – without washing.

Icebreaker has eight other North American TouchLabs: Portland, Oregon (home of its US hea fashion jackets dquarters); New York City (SoHo and the Meatpacking District), California (San Francisco and San Jose), Montréal and Vancouver, British Columbia (Kitsilano and North Shore). A ninth store, located in Vail, Colorado, will open its doors in November 2012, while a tenth store in Washington, DC, is scheduled for March 2013.
